2026 Korea-Norway Geo-Storage Workshop
(26.10.14-15) Successful Hosting of the 2026 Korea–Norway Geo-Storage Workshop
Our research group is pleased to share the successful completion of the 2026 Korea–Norway Geo-Storage Workshop, held on October 14–15, 2026, in Seoul, Korea. Following the first workshop hosted by the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) in Norway last year, this second workshop was organized by Kumoh National Institute of Technology (KIT) as part of our ongoing international research collaboration between Korea and Norway.
The workshop brought together researchers from leading universities and research institutes in both countries, including NGI, SINTEF, and several Korean institutions, to share recent research findings and discuss emerging challenges in underground hydrogen storage, geomechanics, and subsurface energy storage technologies. Through keynote lectures, technical sessions, and panel discussions, participants exchanged valuable insights and explored new opportunities for future collaborative research. We were also honored by the participation of representatives from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Seoul and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF).
Building on the strong partnership established with our Norwegian colleagues, we look forward to further strengthening our international research network and expanding our collaboration beyond underground hydrogen storage toward broader subsurface energy storage technologies. We sincerely thank all participants for their valuable contributions and continued support in making this workshop a meaningful and successful event.
